David is a native Oklahoman and the third generation of his family to work in the energy industry. After earning an MFA from Chelsea University and managing his family’s business for 20 years, he accepted a position with Jeroco, Inc., a non-operating oil and gas company based in Chickasha, Oklahoma. David currently serves as COO & Vice-President of Jeroco. As the Director of Operations, he managed the company’s mineral and working interests for the past 12 years. He is also involved in managing minerals for many clients, including personal holdings, bank trusts, and university foundations.
He has been an active member of the National Association of Royalty Owners for 9 years and has served as a member of the National Advisory Council to NARO, Secretary to OK-NARO for 2 years, and is currently on the OK-NARO Board after having served as the OK-NARO President for 2 terms. David also served 2 terms as National President of NARO in 2012 and 2013.
David frequently travels representing royalty owners and their interest. In September of 2012, he testified before a Congressional Energy Tax Committee at the request of Representative Cory Gardner (R-CO 4th). He provided testimony to the members of the U.S. Congress about percentage depletion and how the elimination of tax incentives will hurt royalty owners nationwide. In 2012, NARO helped to form the ROPE (Royalty Owners and Producers Education) Coalition where David continues to serves as a board member.
David earned his Certified Mineral Manger (CMM) designation from NARO in 2006. He serves on the board of the Grady County Mineral Owners Association and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for 10 years. As an advocate for the education of mineral owners, David continues to speak on a variety of topics nationwide.
He has been married to his wife Michele for 33 years and they make their home in Chickasha, OK. David and Michele have a daughter who lives in with her husband in Oklahoma City, their son Eric on his third deployment with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. David is a member and past president of the Chickasha Rotary Club and continues to be very active in Boy Scouting primarily as a consultant and facilitator in leadership training for both adults and youth.
Candice Upton Brewer is the Director of Operations for the Carr Scholarship Foundation at Angelo State University, President of the National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO), Past President of National Association of Royalty Owners-Texas (NARO-TX), and Secretary of the Royalty Owners and Producers Education Coalition (ROPE). As the Carr Foundation Director, she manages and is responsible for the mineral and royalty interests owned by the foundation with an annual revenue of approximately $7 million.
She brings to this position a degree in Agriculture from Texas A&M University and is classified as a Certified Mineral Manager (CMM). Furthermore, she is fifth generation mineral owner and rancher. Her background, among other things, includes taking part in the management of her family’s ranching operation, as well as assisting her husband with real estate and ranching interest in Oklahoma.
Currently, Candice serves on the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, San Angelo Desk and Derrick, ROPE, NARO and NARO-TX Board of Directors. Additionally, she co-chairs the NARO-TX Annual Convention and is an instructor in Mineral Management for NARO. Added professional memberships include Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners (TIPRO) and the American Association of Petroleum Landmen (AAPL).
Candice has served as a director and president of numerous other community and charitable organizations and in 2013 she was named one of San Angelo’s Top 20 under 40. She is a member of PaulAnn Baptist Church and in her spare time she enjoys horses, collecting antiques, a good bible study, and serving others.
Jerry R Simmons is currently the Executive Director of the National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO) headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before joining NARO in January of 2006 he spent the previous seven years as President of EnergyTech Group, Inc. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma providing technical support services to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Strategic Center for Natural Gas and Oil. Jerry was previously employed with TRW/BDM as Principal Environmental Engineer/Regulatory and Policy Analyst. He also served as Associate Executive Director of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
Mr. Simmons served as Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Health, Safety and Environment Technical Committee in 1993 and on the SPE Reprint Series Committee from 2003-2006. He is author of two SPE technical papers and numerous studies on state oil and gas environmental regulatory programs.
Jerry holds a degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma and has worked as an exploration and production geologist for Hamilton Brothers Oil Company, O.I.L. Energy, Texas Oil and Gas and BHP Americas.
Jerry is on the Board of Directors of the Domestic Energy Producers Alliance and the Council for a Secure America. Serves as Executive Vice President to the Royalty Owners and Producers Educational Coalition and is also a veteran of the US Air Force. He was presented with the International Energy Advocates 2012 “Energy Advocate of the year “award.
